The Wand

The Wand may sound magical, but, in reality, it is such a brilliant invention and we certainly think it lives up to its name.

"The Wand" is the completely computerised method we use to administer anaesthetic.

As The Wand is guaranteed to deliver anaesthetic at a slow and steady rate, numbing a tooth has never been more comfortable.

What is different about the wand?

  • The Wand has the ability to numb only the tooth being worked on. This means no more numb lips or tongue.

  • One big fear for many people when going to the dentist is the thought of a huge needle. The Wand looks completely different, it very closely resembles a small pen.

  • The anesthetic is administered and controlled completely by a computer. This allows us to be precise and extremely gentle.

  • The Wand ensures the anesthetic drips in slowly, significantly reducing any discomfort during the whole numbing process.

We consistently use the wand to provide comfortable and effective numbing before most of our procedures.

Intra-oral Camera

When we are able to see things up close and from a different view, it can give us a much deeper insight into a problem, and help us understand all possible solutions.

At Dean Williamson Dental, we use high-definition, intra-oral (meaning "in the mouth") cameras to take pictures of your teeth.

We have the ability to actually show you that sensitive tooth with a broken filling, or the decay that has been aching for a while.

It is truly fascinating to see the transformation of a tooth from before treatment through to the final restoration.

Paperless Forms

Going paperless (or as paperless as possible) has always been a goal of ours. Switching to digital where we can has many benefits.

  • It creates a more streamlined, simple way to gather information and significantly reduces data entry errors. This is particularly important with medications and medical conditions.

  • Paperless forms gives you the ability to add, correct or update information easily and quickly.

  • We should all do our part in taking care of our planet. Going as paperless as possible is a simple way to look out for our environment.

We recognise that filling out paperless forms may be different from what you might be accustomed to. Our amazing team are always on hand to assist you and ensure your experience with us is second to none.

Digital X-rays

Our ability to take x-rays is thanks to an accident in 1895 made by Professor Wilhelm Roentgen from Bavaria. Professor Roentgen was testing whether cathode rays could pass through glass when he noticed they left "shadows" on solid objects.

The discovery of these x-rays and ability to take them has revolutionised medical and industrial fields around the world.

Since their discovery, the machines used to take and record x-rays have advanced countless times. We now have the ability to take digital x-rays.

At Dean Williamson Dental, we have invested in the latest technology, allowing us to significantly reduce the amount of radiation required to take x-rays. It also allows us to upload these x-rays directly to our computer so you can see them in the blink of an eye.
